Josiane Geyer, Artistic Director

Mrs. Geyer directed all productions and outreach performances at EOJ Ballet for 10 years (A private Christian Ballet School).  Her passion is to teach students of all ages and levels to use the art of dance to express their own passion and be inspired.

She began studying dance, music, and drama at the age of ten in her native country Brazil. She mostly studied under Mr. Wald Oliveira, who had an eclectic approach to dance– mainly Ballet and Contemporary, but also Jazz and Hip-Hop. She grew up in Santa Catarina, a Brazilian state known internationally for its cultural sophistication and its international dance festivals which featured special guests such as The Bolshoi Ballet and Stuttgart Ballet along with some of the greatest modern dance companies in the world. She personally teaches the Vaganova Ballet Syllabus and has been certified by John White (author of  Advanced Principles in Teaching Classical Ballet), who learned directly from visiting Soviet ballet master Victor Zaplin, who remained in Cuba for two years and established the Vaganova Method there (at The National Ballet School of Cuba).

“It was a great privilege to have learned from Mr. John White himself and become certified under his tutoring twice from beginner to advanced levels – An experience of not only technical maturity, but deep history, wisdom and artistry that I will never forget!”

In South Florida Mrs. Geyer has received a Certificate of completion from The Vaganova Method Teacher seminar also but under Maestro Vladimir Issaev (Arts Ballet Theater). She directed, taught, and danced with The Joy Foundation and served as choreographer for many Christian and independent musicals. She has also taught and directed Expressions of Joy Ballet and Company for 10 years, teaching at workshops and intensives for the National Dance Association of America and Step Up. Josi has also joined Ft. Lauderdale Ballet Classique in Ft. Lauderdale, performing classical roles under Mrs. Magda Aunon which she considers a dear mentor until today. Most recently, Mrs. Geyer received training under John Wittenborn studying RPM (Revolutionary Principles of Movement.) by Ruth C. Petrinovic which focuses on professional classical ballet training under the principles of kinesiology and anatomy “I hope to never stop learning so that by receiving, I never stop giving”
